Summer youth performance programme

We’ve been awarded funding from Arts Council England and Gravesham Borough Council for our summer youth performing programme.

The funding allows us to provide young people in Gravesham with free opportunities to learn how to sing, dance and perform live at three events including Kent youth event called GenFest in Canterbury.

The theme of the performances are ‘songs from stage and screen’ inspired by the professional performers who appeared at the event alongside our young people.

On Friday evening (14th June) the first live performance took place in Gravesend at The Church of Latter Day Saints.

More than 200 people came to watch the young people take to the stage, where young people from 10 years to 23 years old.

Special guests at the event included; ex-GYGer Harrison Pettman who recently appeared on Britain’s Got Talent TV show and West End star Jenna Boyd from the hit musical Come From Away and Olivier Award Winner Leanne Jones, who also coaches young people at GYG, performed on the night.

GYG’s young performance will next perform live:

·        GenFest on Sat 29th June in Canterbury at the Gulbenkian

·        Riverside Festival Sat 6 July in Gravesend on the main stage

Huge thanks for Arts Council England, Gravesham Borough Council and Culture Rise, who all supported the programme of work.
