Each year, young people take over the Woodville Theatre to stage their own high impact show.
More than 100 young people, aged 11-19 years, spend the year preparing for the event. And it's not just about performing... young people create props, hair styles, make-up as well as documenting the event with photography and compering the evening - they’ve also cooked for our VIP guests, and spent months creating the menu.
The performances range from West End show numbers to Afrobeats and contemporary dance to magic tricks.
All the profits from the ticket sales go towards our youth counselling service called Active Listening, which provides young people with FREE counselling.
We've been running GYG show for 11 years, and each year it gets a little bigger and a little more ambitious.
This year sees the launch of our new youth choir, an ambition we have had for some years, and with the help of Small Green Shoots, a grant from Arts Council England and the talent of MOBO Award winning Choir Director Volney Morgan it has finally become a reality. We cannot wait for you to hear the power and the passion from their combined voices.
GYG is fuelled by the passion of the creative professionals who run our workshops, guide and inspire our young people. Young people can join any of our workshops for free, and no experience is needed, everyone is welcome.
There are incredibly talented young people here in the borough, we hope to boost confidence, provide inspiration and help create positive memories.
